University of Pretoria (UP)
My formal teaching experience at UP began in 2015 at the Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences, during my doctoral studies, to assist course leaders with:
- BDO 229 (Employee Health and Ergonomics);
- BDO 329 (Performance Management – Module 1); and
- BDO 329 (Training and Development – Module 2);
Above courses formed part of undergraduate lectures /teaching (second and third year) studies towards the Bachelor of Nursing Science (Education and Administration) degree (BCur). I was assisted with:
- Development of learning/teaching materials;
- Developing teaching/presenting material (classroom teaching/lecturing); and
- Assessment (examinations).
The undergraduate lectures consisted of classroom / in-person teaching of classes between 40 and 60 students. Some of the main challenges resolved around keeping discipline in a large classroom setting, engaging with students and making presentations inter-active.
Since 2021, I assisted with examination assessment of:
- BDO 319 (Human Resources Management Systems (HRMS) – Module 1); and
- BDO 319 (Human Resources (HR) provision – Module 2).
The aforementioned courses form part of undergraduate lectures /teaching of students studying towards a bachelor’s degree in human resources management.
